A Letter from the HHMBA Executive

By HHMBA, 04/03/20, 12:45PM EDT

"We are continuing to plan, to prepare, to remain hopeful and doing our best to save a baseball season," says Ed Quinlan, president of Baseball Ontario. "If there's an opportunity to save baseball, we are certainly going to do our best to so."

To Our Players, Coaches and HHMBA Families,

We hope that this message finds our players, their parents and their families all in good health, as we all navigate through this unprecedented time in history. While we face this unknown time, the Executive want to let you know that they are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation on a daily basis. As it stands today, we are preparing various scenarios that will see our house league and travel participants on the diamonds this summer, in accordance with the guidelines set by government and by our governing body, Ontario Baseball Association. Our schedule may not be what we had originally been thinking, but we are still very hopeful that our players and teams will be on the diamonds this summer.

The HHMBA and its partner organizations have aligned its operations with the Provincial/Municipal Governments and Baseball Ontario by immediately suspending all programs indefinitely, including the postponement of all Player Development Clinics, Coaching Clinics, Umpire Clinics and Facility Bookings.

We understand your concerns during this period and assure you that the safety of our players will remain our top priority. The well-being of our valued members is of the deepest concern to us. We all must do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19, which means taking a break from playing baseball right now.

As we continue to plan for the season, we are asking all parents who would be willing to coach or assist a coach in our house league program for the 2020 season to please step forward . The HHMBA runs solely on parent volunteers. We are short a couple of coaches for our Senior and Junior House League divisions. Please reach out to Jason (U5, U7 and U9) at or John (U11, U13, U15 and U18) at

There are still some things our players can do at home during this time of social distancing, to get ready for the coming 2020 season. Baseball Canada has some great instructional videos on Youtube and a lot of the activities are able to take place in your backyard, basement or bedroom. A few are outlined below:………

Those who were thinking about umpiring this season will have the opportunity to complete their umpiring courses online in April. Please keep an eye on our league website,  for more information when it comes available.

The HHMBA will continue to provide updates to our membership, as it pertains to our Summer 2020 programs, as they come available. We thank everyone for their understanding and support as we navigate through this very tough and challenging time for all.
